Coutts project: Enterprise-wide Programme Governance

Coutts

the business issue.
The first acquisition understandably threw up all kinds of integration issues that had not been foreseen and that “business as usual ” was continually getting in the way of resolving. The Board had already identified further acquisition targets and needed to unblock the log jam.

the requirements.
Quickly identify the outstanding integration tasks/projects and establish an effective programme of work that will speed up their completion. Provide the Bank’s Executive Management with a dependable method of monitoring progress. Put the Bank in a position to be able to rapidly undertake further material acquisitions.

the solution.
CyberDMG worked with the internal programme team to identify those issues that needed to become projects and those existing projects that were languishing. In all, some 260 projects were uncovered. Using CyberDMGs PMO processes and practises a programme of work was quickly established that attacked the projects in priority order. In addition, CyberDMG identified, procured and implemented an enterprise-wide web-based Programme Governance tool “Thoughtweb” into which all projects were entered.

This provided management with a real-time insight into progress of each project or all the projects in a department, geographical area or division. This highly effective communication method ensured the right decisions were taken by the right people at the right time. In short order, the Bank was able to return again to its expansion strategy with the confidence that any new acquisition could be absorbed quickly and effectively.
